Hi everyone I use the iCloud backup for my iPhone and iPad, however the one of the iPhone is too big ( around 400-500 MB). If I go to settings->General->Usage->Manage Storage, in the backup options there all documents backed up on the iCloud( whatsapp, camera roll ) and all this things together aren't 500 MB. How can this happen?

By that screen shot, you've accounted for almost 150 out of the 400-500mb of backup storage. I'm sure its other settings and application related data.

I know that, and that is what i'd like to figure out!! Which are these settins? How can i delete them if it's possibile ?

Text messages are usually the culprit, especially with photos and videos over mms and iMessages. Clear those out and that should shrink your backup. Absolute worst case would be to do a clean install of iOS 7.

Tried and nothing changed! It's a mystery!

However I removed all the options, deleted the backup, turned off the iCloud backup , and then I turned it on again and now it shows the right amount of MB. Hope it won't happen anymore.

Just curious. It shows that you have 4.2 out of your 5GB of iCloud storage still free. Why are you concerned abut space? A few hundred MB is very small for a backup. I have my iPhone and iPad and each has a backup of about 2GB, so I still have 1GB free.

I've had this happen a few times myself. No calculation of the data on the device seemed to add up to the backup size. It never fixed itself until an upgrade required a full reinstallation (pre-OTA days). Worst case, back up the system to iTunes instead of the cloud, wipe it, pop the same iOS version on the device and restore from your iTunes backup. This tends to lose app settings, though!

It may only restore settings it thinks are missing, which could be a smaller amount than the ~400MB it wants to use now. YMMV etc. :)

Because I have nothing in my iPhone to make a backup so big. Since I don't have a good connection it takes all the night to upload 1 GB. Moreover I transfer all the photos on the Mac, so the only thing I need to save are the apps which don't utilize iCloud!! I'm not interested in the free space, but I couldn't utilize this kind of backup if I had to upload 600 MB of nothing!

Usually once the first backup completes, the next backups should be a lot smaller and go a lot faster. It won't upload the full backup each time.

have seen this happen and reporting full and out of space. Turning off camera backup, letting it "delete" that from the backup then turning it back on solves it. Its like the photos are not calculating correctly or overwriting or something weird. Guess the same issue for any of the other apps could cause similar results. But 381mb is not 1gb so confused there. If you are limited on bandwidth maybe you should just use iTunes for your backups instead of iCloud. Just a thought.

Sorry for the mistake! I just wanted to make you understand that my connection is slow. However this time the backup was 400 MB, but other times it was over 1 GB and i could't figure out why! I turned off camera backup and it solved the problem but this time it didn't and so i posted it here. However now it's ok

whatsapp Backup

Why in the 1st screen it shows whatsapp is 228.2 MB and when i click on the actual backup it shows whatsapp is 1.3 GB.

isn't the 1st screen shows me what is the current size of the whatsapp backup?

also, How can i reduce the size of the whatsapp backup? i tried to delete photos and videos im getting through whatsapp but it doesnt make the backup smaller.

Thank you!
