I asked this question when I first received my ipad in June shortly after release. But seeing no one else with this issue, I thought I would ask again after longer ownership/experience from others. My 12.9" takes about 3 hours to back up to icloud. So it must be done overnight. It does this automatically about every 1.5 weeks. I dont know if that timing is normal or not. Occassionally I want to backup while using it to make sure that photos I have just imported from my camera and edited in my editing software are saved to icloud to be viewed on all my devices. So, 3 hours icloud backup is not cutting it in this situation. I called apple Support back in June when this issue surfaced my first week of ownership. We went thru all their solutions for a fix on the phone and none worked. So they recommended I bring it in. I live at least an hour from an Apple Store so that is not something I want to do unless I absolutely have to.
So at that time, I did an Erase All Content and set the ipad up as a new rather than the backup I had set it up under initially. At that time, it seemed to correct my backup time so I forgot about it. I did buy Apple Care for the ipad tho just in case I had gotten an unstable unit. Today I tried to backup again and get that same loooong backup time. I can call apple again but sure dont want to take it in, all else is working fine.
So, just curious, at this time, is anyone else noticing that their new 12.9" ipad takes longer to icloud backup than their previous ipads did?
