iCloud backup on new 5S - not!

When I try to do a manual back up via WiFi to the cloud it says less than a minute left and then says : the last backup could not be completed. Last backup: Never.

Anyone else have this problem. It does this plugged in or not.

Strange. Mine said 'Last Backup: Never' too but I simply clicked 'Back Up Now' and it was fine.

I was plugged into my Mac by the way.

Are you using in excess of your 5 GB allotment? If that's the problem you may want to delete any backup of your old phone that may still be in the cloud.

Even though my previous iPhone 5 was way under the limit, I deleted everything anyway and the back up on the 5S went right through
