D deeddawg macrumors G5 Jun 14, 2010 12,517 6,623 US Mar 16, 2012 #3 Yes, local backup/restore is always going to be speedier than cloud backup/restore. iCloud backup is great for everyday use and disaster recovery, but for a planned migration do it locally if at all possible. Especially since there might be just a few other people trying to restore from iCloud today...

Not surprising, tons of people are trying to do the same thing across the world, iCloud is probably insanely bogged down with iPad restores right now. Patience young grasshopper!

They should borrow Dropbox's idea and copy over the LAN if there happens to be another device on there which has the up to date content.
