Does anyone know whether Apple ever fixed the issue with iCloud Calendar invites being sent as notifications and not as standard email invites?
As I recall, iCloud Calendar events sent to other people would be sent as app notifications (i.e. through iCloud's notification system) instead of via email if the recipient's email address was registered with Apple (Apple ID, iCloud ID, etc.). However, if the user didn't use iCloud Calendar but instead used another calendar service (Google, Outlook, Exchange, etc.) then the recipient would never receive the invite because it was sent via iCloud Calendar notification (which they don't use) instead of email invite. What's worse, you may never know whether the recipient received the invite and didn't send a response, or never received the invite. The "workaround" for this wasn't a workaround at all--you can log in to iCloud on the web and change a setting to notify you via email when you have an iCloud Calendar app notification. Of course, you can't reasonably make this "workaround" request of all of your potential business or personal contacts to whom you might send invites, many of whom may never have logged into iCloud.com.
This one issue forced me to switch from iCloud mail and calendar to Outlook.com, which works acceptably but is glitchy in many other ways. Would love to move back to all iCloud, but need reliable invite behavior to help facilitate my side hustle.
Thanks!
