Question for the crew...

My wife and I are bumping up against our iCloud storage limit of 200GB. Each of us has around 10GB of iMessages on our device, but in the cloud it is showing as 40-50GB per person.

We both have multiple iCloud devices (iPads, Macs, Mac Minis), and messages are synced across.

Is it:
1. That our phones are only storing the latest messages, and really the entire message system is that big.
or
2. That iCloud is duplicating the message store across the devices (turning 10GB x 3-4 devices into 40GB)

Either way, the management of data storage on the iPhone still has a long way to go.
