iCloud drive access question

I like the idea of iCloud drive. Going to icloud.com to access the drive folder works for me. I like that you can create folders and add things to the drive and access it on devices.

What I want to know is, what if you add photos to the drive from your computer, can you access it from your phone?

Not currently.

I'd imagine when the new Photos app for OS X comes out next year that there will be some sort of synching this way.

That's a bummer. I really want to get away from Dropbox.
