I use Google Drive a lot on all of my devices. I recently started using the Files App/iCloud Drive on my cell phone and Ipad to organize all of my files. I noticed that some of my Google Drive files are also on my Icloud Drive in the Files App. It just looks very disorganized. Is there a way to prevent these files from showing up on Icloud Drive? ALL of my Google Drive files sync with the Files app under Google Drive but some of the files are also listed under "Desktop" in Icloud Drive. Thanks for any help!

Do you have Google Drive on your computer? You might have set both iCloud and Google Drive on your computer to backup anything on the desktop. iCloud Drive Desktop is basically your mac's desktop, if you enable it to sync Desktop and Documents folder on your mac.

No google Drive on my MBA. I just purchased a M1 and there is no Google Drive app available (I think).

Then it could happen that you just happened to download those files on your desktop on your mac, and if you enabled Desktop and Documents folder syncing on iCloud, you will see them on the iCloud desktop folder on your iPad. Google Drive may not even be related. :)

Hey thanks. How do I get rid of those files in the Documents Folder in Icloud Drive without erasing them?

?? Why do you want to get rid of them but don’t want to delete them? I guess I’m not following.
if you want icloud to stop syncing them with your Mac, just uncheck the Desktop and Document folder syncing on your Mac. Or create a new folder in your username directory and move those files there.

It just looks cluttered
