When I checked on Settings > General > iPad Storage > iCloud Drive, it said:
”Your most recently accessed files are downloaded to this device for quick access. The original files remain safely stored in iCloud“.

Right now, there are 80 GB recently accessed files downloaded to my iPad for quick access. That’s too much. How do I delete these ”temporary files” from my iPad without deleting them from the iCloud itself?

And how do I make sure that in the future, no more than 5 GB can be downloaded to the local storage for quick access?

iPadOS will delete them automatically when it needs space for something else.
Just don’t think about it.

However, if for some bizarre reason you really want to delete these files (I can’t think of a reason why), you can switch off iCloud Drive on the iPad, reboot and switch it on again. (Probably the reboot is unnecessary but it won’t hurt)
