I have an original Mac.com address that was transitioned to MobileMe and then iCloud. I've been using the me.com address, but people seem confused whenever I say @me.com. So I thought about switching to icloud.com.

Although I can send/receive email with the icloud.com address, I can't receive FaceTime calls or Messages with it. When I looked in preferences on my phone, macOS, etc., the iCloud email address isn't listed.

Any clue how to fix this?

Goto Settings > Apple ID (where your information is at the very top) > Name, Phone Numbers, Email

There is a box there that says "Reachable at", across from that text on the right is "Edit". Press edit and then at the bottom of 'Reachable at' a field will pop up that says Add email, Phone etc...
