iCloud failed to restore images from backup

Today, I had to do a clean recovery of my iPhone.
So I used the iCloud-backup from yesterday (6.8 GB with pictures iCloud says)

Now, all my pictures are gone.

Any idea why everything, but not my pics got restored?

It only restores the last 30 days worth I think. It keeps all of them in icloud but only restores a certain amount.

I always keep a fresh backup on my PC when i backup to iCloud. I use iCloud for restoring backups to auto download my apps. Then once all thats done, restore from backup in iTunes to get all my camera roll pics back.
