iCloud family break up?

My wife currently shares my 200GB account for backups, etc - but she's hogging it.
Instead of upgrading to the 2TB $10, I was going to just let her start her own $2/200GB account but wondered how best to accomplish this?

Just have her purchase her own 200GB account and then remove her from mine?

Sure, you can do that. If she leaves the iCloud family sharing, she’ll have 28 days to get her own plan. See the last section of this Apple Support article:
