I have tried searching around for a solution to what I think should be an easy problem to solve, and maybe common, but I am failing.

Background: I use iCloud for my calendars. I rad them (usually) via Fantastical, where I sync my work calendar also. My wife is an iCloud user and subscribes to my personal calendar and sees when I plug in dates/events/etc.

I get calendar invites from a few sources automatically to my Gmail account, and Gmail automatically adds these, or at least adds the invite. If I want these events to show in my iCloud personal calendar, I have to manually create an event.

What I am hoping to do is either merge calendar events between iCloud/Gmail or at least subscribe to Gmail calendar events within my iCloud personal calendar. All my searching keeps trying to help me add a Gmail calendar itself to the various calendar apps, which is not the goal. I can do that now, but I lose the event syncing/visibility w/ family.

I'm not familiar with Fantastical these days but in the macOS Calendar app you can just add the Gmail account to your Mac and select only "calendars" to sync. Then, you can drag events from the calendar days to a different account in the sidebar (in your case iCloud) and they'll copy to the different account calendar.

Or you could both just use Google Calendars and set up the sharing on the web interface.

Yes I don't think there's going to be a way of doing what you want to do. You can add the calendar to your calendar app but there's no syncing process between iCloud and Google calendars, if you want that feature adding to iCloud then you would have to submit a feedback request to Apple. All I can suggest is that you both standardise on using Google calendars OR both you AND your wife adds your Google calendar to their calendar apps (you can get a read-only .ics link that you can give to your wife) and then she'll be able to see both your iCloud and Google ones. It might not be as convenient but you might just have to accept that, I'm afraid.
