iCloud + google sync (cal and contacts) won't work together?

Anyone else out there use google sync to get their calendars and contact lists on their iphone/mac(s) inline with the one on google?

It seems like iCloud won't play friendly with google sync. Anyone know of a workaround for this? Or will I have to continue to use google sync to keep everything up to date on all my Apple products?

I'm sticking to Google Sync for contacts and Calendar. For now.
