ive been reading the installation guide for ML on macworld for some time now because im trying to leave Lion to run my music production software that only compativle with ML or higher and i want to know will icloud mess up my instillation process. please check the screen shot which says "this device is no longer eligible for creating an icloud account.
i ask because under initial setup:

"If didnt already have iCloud configured under Lion, or if you did but Location Services and Find My Mac werent enabled, your initial experience will be much like the one I describe for Snow Leopard upgraders in the next paragraph.
Snow Leopard: If youve upgraded from Snow Leopard (or installed 10.8 onto a blank drive and imported your Snow Leopard data and settings), the first thing youll see when you log in to your account under Mountain Lion is an Apple ID screen. Enter your Apple ID and passwordyou can create an Apple ID if you dont have oneand agree to the Apple ID Terms and Conditions, and youll then be prompted to set up iCloud. Assuming you want to do so, click Continue (twice). Youll then be prompted to enable Find My Mac using your iCloud account; if you choose to do so, you must also allow Location Services. Finally, youll see a Thank You screen with a button to Start Using Your Mac.
if i created a new apple id would icloud work??
Random questions: 1. also if i clean install ML will i have to reinstall programs like Logic, excel, word?
2. if its even possible... if my extern HD is has 2 partitions 1 for superduper backup and 1 for time machine, if i drag n drop files from my MBP and place it on either of the partitions will i run into any problems with my backups? (jus crossed my mind)
i am hesitant to do a clean install because im in my semester and cant afford to not be able to use my programs. this is my first used mac and im not trying to lose access to word or excel especially. im on a mid 2010 mbp
im currently in the process of puttin ML on a flash drive, then either upgrade or clean install
thanx
