I think I am losing it so need help.

I remember seeing small cloud symbols next to files in the finder on my Mac but they have gone which means all the files are downloaded. How can I offload files like I did before if that makes any sense.

No, there used to be small cloud icons next to files with a small download arrow next to them but they have gone.

No, there used to be small cloud icons next to files with a small download arrow next to them but they have gone.

That means the file exists in iCloud and is not on your Mac locally, and that is caused by turning on that setting I mentioned.
