The problem is post-reboot on a Mavericks system. During the user login process, a window pops up asking for the iCloud password in order to login. Password is entered, and after a pause the password is requested again, with no statement about why the first login was not accepted. This will repeat at least through ten cycles (when I got tired of trying), after which just clicking on whatever the Ignore button is called will stop the requests. This can result in iCloud not really working right, although the end effects are very uneven.

I first ran into this some months ago on my iMac, and the problem was never resolved despite a complete bare-metal reinstall of Mavericks and a rebuilding of everything in /User/me/Library from scratch. It finally forced me to upgrade to (gag) El Capitan. Now my wife's MacBook Pro is doing the same thing, both in her own login and when I log on to my account on her MacBook (which is a bare-bones setup for me to use for sysadmin purposes).

I haven't seen any discussion of this problem anywhere - has anyone else run into this? I really don't want to move my wife's laptop to El Cap, but I may not have an option. On my iMac this problem eventually migrated into problems in iTunes.
