iPad iCloud mail going to Outbox

Whenever I try to send an iCloud mail rather than transmitting it goes to my Outbox. I can respond to incoming e-mails but when I compose an e-mail even thou I can hear the chimes that should indicate it is being sent it ends up in my Outbox. What is the solution ? Thanks

You're using the default mail app, right?
