iCloud Mail Sync: What does it do?

App Q&A testing by request.
If "Calendar" is turned on in the iCloud sharing panel, then events and such on one mac shows up on another or on the iOS stuff....

Is that how Mail works? If I turn it on, the settings on my MacBook will transfer to the iMac? Does messages too?
