I'm using Big Sur, but this problem was also happening with the previous macOS. When I received a mail message that I wanted to keep, I would "copy" it to my iCloud folder. For some reason I can't do this anymore. When I attempt to do it, it appears to work, but when I then open the iCloud mail folder, it's empty.

I'm wondering if I accidently checked some box to prevent these copies. I've lost several messages that I was "storing" in my iCloud folder.

Hi! I'd check for icloud in system preferences and make sure there's a checkmark next to "mail". While there, you could also check "icloud drive" -> options and see what's active at the moment. If that doesn't help, there are additional tricks like checking icloud in your browser to see if the information you're looking for was actually synced.
let me know if it helped)

I have about 4 email accounts including my iCloud acct's (2), one ended with ***.me.com and the other with ***.icloud.com. I did a test email to both of them and the message(s) showed up in the icloud email folder. I've NEVER used either of these accts for emails. As I said in my post, I've only used this account to store/keep emails that I wanted to save my either moving or copying messages to it. Then suddenly all my saved messages disappeared and I am no longer able to copy/move mail to them.

I don't understand your comment above, "you could also check "icloud drive" -> options and see what's active at the moment. If that doesn't help, there are additional tricks like checking icloud in your browser to see if the information you're looking for was actually synced."

I think I may have a fix though. I could setup another account (save@gmail.com), assuming gmail would allow that handle. Then I could save/move messages to it like I used to do with icloud.

Thanks for the help...
