Macrumors,

I have somehow lost a large portion of the messages saved on my iPhone/Mac that were synced with iCloud but I have the option turned off on my iPad and all the messages remain intact on it (with iCloud sync off). What is the best way to approach this so I do not risk losing all the messages with turning on the iCloud sync on the iPad? (Other than an iCloud backup on iPad first) I am assuming that the device with the most data would take over and and sync to all devices? (Not sure a better way to explain this)

My thought is to turn off the sync on the Mac and iPhone, wipe the remain messages on the iPhone/Mac and and then turn them off and enable sync on the iPad and let it do it thing before turning on the other devices, thoughts? Wasn't able to find much on this topic beside how to directly transfer messages between devices. Maybe I am over thinking this. Thanks!

iPhone - Sync on, some messsages
Mac - Sync on, some messages
iPad - Sync off, All messages I want to sync to cloud.

This happened to my mate a few days ago. Except he didn't sync with other devices. My iPad Mail app a few days ago cleared everything out and downloaded emails from 2012.
