iCloud message syncing - what should I expect?

Hi All,

Hope I am posting to the right place. I have not used iCloud for messages before but decided to switch it on and don't know what to expect.

So I have switched it on today , on my iPad and iPhone where I have a lot of message history and now on my new MacBook which has no history. Will all the history appear on my Mac even though iCloud messages was only switch on today for all the devices?
