I enabled iCloud Messages on my phone last night for the first time. Firstly can the Watch do iCloud Messages as googling it brings up old stuff that it wasnt included initially but the support stuff on the Apple website do mention it as a device that can be used for it.

Secondly, if it is capable of doing it how do i kick the Watch into syncing properly. As far as i can tell my Phone has uploaded it all and is now syncing with iCloud for Messages but the Watch doesnt appear to be matching up with what i see on my phone. Tried rebooting both devices and resyncing data on my watch but no luck as yet.

It should just work, so let's start with the basics first…

What happens when you receive a new message? Does it show on your watch?

If not, what happens when you send a message from the watch? Does it send, and does it show in messages on the other devices?

Maybe i need to get my head round what it actually does to understand if its working or not. I've not had many messages but the ones i've had\sent since turning it on have appeared on both devices. I was half expecting it to mirror what i see on my phone i think but a load i deleted on the phone didnt get deleted on the watch and i had to delete on the watch manually.

If you are expecting old iMessages to sync onto your watch, that won’t happen. But new ones should. The only way to get old messages onto your watch is to restore it from a previous backup.

If you delete an iMessage on your phone it should be deleted on the watch. However if you delete a traditional SMS text on your phone it will not delete on your watch. God only knows why Apple have done that.

And it's such a pain.. Hopefully this is resolved soon, but hasn't been for several versions

This hasn't worked for ages on Watch.
- Delete imessage on WatchOS 3-5 (that I've experienced on S3/S4) did NOT delete on iOS. Same thing in reverse.
Yet deletions did work from macOS (Catalina).

Has this finally been fixed? There are literary 10's of threads about this.

cheers, that clears things up a bit and pretty much what it’s done so far.
