iCloud Music Library sort of online backup of my music??

After I sign up for Apple Music, Apple will make all my music including the CDs that I ripped into iTunes be available to all my devices by uploading a copy (if not available in the iTunes store) to my iCloud Music Library. I've ripped my CDs using Apple Lossless encoding, but the "copy" in iCloud Music Library is probably only iTunes Store quality (320 kbps), not CD quality. Since iCloud Music Library is storing a "copy" of my ripped CDs would you think of it as a sort of online backup of my music? Btw, I do backup my data using Time Machine.

They will upload as 256kbps AAC. It is not a backup service but a syncing service. You should keep at least 1 physical backup of your Library in addition to TM. TM is dynamic and over time will erase/replace so a static snapshot backup pre Music is a good idea.
