I updated my son's iPad mini to the latest version of iOS - but now the restrictions code will not work. I tried to restore the iPad mini from a locally stored backup, but I have to turn off location services first. To do that, I have to go through the iCloud tab/pane in Preferences. But the iCloud pane is grayed out, and not selectable. What else can I do to reset the restrictions password?
The iPad mini did allow me to enter the iCloud password after the software update, but I am unable to select the preferences pane. Restrictions are on, but I cannot sign in as long as the code isn't recognized. I cannot re-enable iCloud in restrictions without being able to unlock restrictions.
HELP
UPDATE:
What Apple recommended at first was to restore the iPad mini and to set it up as a new iPad. Once I signed into iCloud and GameCenter, all of my son's game data would be restored. This didn't work, all of my son's game data was gone. Next phone call Apple said I should have never done this (different support tech), that I needed to restore the iPad mini and restore from the backup, this would reset the restrictions code. I didn't think this would work - and it sure didn't. Next phone call (different support tech, and then the support tech's supervisor), they said that (oops) there wasn't anything I could do to recover or reset the restrictions passcode without wiping my son's game data.
Thanks, Apple. I suppose it would be too much to have a backup option for at least saving game data or allowing reseting of the restrictions code via the host Mac. But that is probably asking too much.
