So, I'm trying to compile some information regarding to the new photo stuff. Would like some feedback if these are wrong / incomplete
This is what I understand, any additions?
- iCloud Photo Library uploads all new photos on your device, downloads new ones uploaded by your other devices.
- Does not use Cellular by default, waits for Wi-Fi access
- When you activate it, you lose all the photos currently on photo stream ? however it uploads the photos on camera roll to iCloud Photo Library
- Also syncs videos
- Uses iCloud storage space
- All photos become available on all your iOS devices with iCloud Photo Library enabled.
- Photo Stream is also available, it apparently is just for legacy support.
- iPhoto keeps using the Photo Stream, as well as iOS7 devices or iOS8 with iCloud Photo Library disabled.
- If you don't have legacy devices / iPhoto on mac, you can disable Photo Stream.
- icloud.com has a Photos app for iCloud Photo Library access from Mac
- iCloud Photo Sharing is not linked to these, it's just for sharing photos with other people just as before.
