Hi all - wasn't sure about where to exactly put this thread.
Anyway, I have both a MBA running HS and a iPhone 6 with iOS11. I wanted to activate iCloud photo library in order to save space on my phone, but wanted to keep originals on my MBA.
Now, as I have Photo stream activated almost all my iPhone pics should be on my Mac already.
Do I need to activate the library on my mac first, and selecting "keep originals" and after that on my phone with the "optimizing space" option? Or is there another way?
About the duplicates - having photo stream on, it should automatically detect the duplicates and not upload them, right? I shouldn't see an increase in my mac storage for photos?

Thank you all

P.S. I'm running HS 10.13.1 but wanted to update to the new 10.13.4 - heard it brings improvement to the MBA?
Would you suggest updating first, then activating iCloud Library, the opposite or not updating at all for the time being?
