Right now I have all of my photos stored in iCloud on my MacBook Air.

I also have the entire library stored on an external SSD on another mac.

I find the lag time to wait for photos to download from the cloud so I can fully examine and edit them on the MBA is sometimes too slow.

I therefor want to sometimes unplug use my external SSD from my other mac and use it with the MacBook Air.

Is this possible?

Do I access the same library file or do I have to have 2 libraries on that SSD?

Do I need to make sure I always do this connected to the cloud to ensure my changes sync? If I am working with no internet will they automatically sync when I plug the ssd into the other mac? Is this a bad idea?
