My wife uses an old 2013 Macbook Pro & I finally convinced her to upgrade the OS. We went from Sierra to Catalina, which is the most recent version the computer will run. Everything looks to be working fine EXCEPT that iCloud photos are no longer syncing. They were working right up until we updated, but now when I look at iCloud in system prefs, I see photos are unchecked. When I try to click on it, I get an error message saying that iCloud Photos is only available on macOS Standard, MacOS Extended and APFS formatted volumes, along with some instructions on how to check the format of the disk. When I check the format, it's listed as APFS, so I'm not sure what the issue is.

Any ideas what I might be missing?
Thanks in advance,

I am having this exact issue, down to the upgrade from a 2013 Macbook pro and everything working fine until the upgrade. Hopefully someone can help!
