MacBook Pro 15” from 2018 on MacOS 13.5.1.

I open this thing maybe once a month if that. Usually just to update. I’m not very knowledgeable in the Mac but I’m having this issue hopefully someone can assist with.

I opened my Mac and noticed my photos haven’t synced since July 26. I left it on for a couple hours and still nothing. I went into iCloud settings to toggle iCloud Photos off and on as I’ve done before in the past but this time I’m being met with some resistance when I toggle it on. Can anyone explain to me like I’m a third grader what this means? I haven’t done anything to it other than update the software and basic computing tasks like web surfing and checking some videos from an SD Card. Thanks.

If you follow the instructions, what kind of file system does your Mac think the drive is?
Thank you for for the reply... I tried following the instructions but honestly, I have no clue what or where “Volume” is in the Finder. I opened Finder and was digging around in there through settings but couldn’t find anything like that. I wasn’t kidding when I said I’m not very knowledgeable with the Mac lol.

Anyways, while searching through Finder, I opened Photos and started digging through there. I was able to turn on iCloud Photos in the Photos settings with no problem. It also showed it was turned on in iCloud settings and it appears syncing has commenced. Looks like my issue is fixed and I thank you again for the help.

Assuming your Photos library is on your system/boot disk, reboot in recovery mode and run First Aid in Disk Utility. See https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-250002683

I don't like the idea of toggling iCloud Photos on and off. My advice would be to wait for some time with it off before turning on again.
Thank you for the reply. Fixed it by going through settings in Photos. Full description above 👆🏻. Thanks again for your help.
