After upgrading from iPhone 11 Pro to the new 14 pro, I thought I’d give the iCloud backup and restore a try, instead of starting as a new slate as I usually do when I upgrade.

I’m really impressed by this feature. I just thought that it would download all the apps you had, sync your photos and videos and safari bookmarks etc.

I was really impressed by the following:
  • All settings stayed the same
  • Wallpapers and widgets stayed the same
  • Home Screen exactly the same
  • Even de-attached my AirPods and Apple Watch from old phone to the new one
  • All my apps had already been logged in (this is major point at this is such a pain on a new device) - only instagram, messenger, and a bank app or two needed further login or verification
It literally is like picking up the contents of the previous device and dropping it on a new one.

This feature probably saved me a good 2 hours of logging in, resetting passwords etc. just sharing this in case anyone hasn’t tried it beforehand and possibly missed the benefits.

Thanks for the info. Glad it worked flawlessly. I was also impressed the migration process from my old iPad to the new one. It took almost 45 minutes but everything works without any issue after that.
