Here's a tough one...
Has anyone else found issues between the Ipad2 Cloud and 3rd party email servers?
I know this may sound strange, but many controlled tests over several weeks have confirmed this:

We have (2) Ipad2's in the house (hers & mine)
We have a home wifi network
Wifi Printer
We have our own email servers with 5 different email accounts (our family business) All are POP3 accounts
We connect to the Internet through Cablevision (optonline)
My wife's Ipad, Itouch & my BB have all been using our wifi for email & internet for over a year without issue.
When my wife got the Ipad2 she turned on Icloud. That's when the problems started. The email access became intermittent. Reloading passwords, and often deleting the account and reloading was necesary to get it working...but that did not ALWAYS work. Very strange. Typically, we were able to RECEIVE but NOT SEND.
I took her Ipad. My email no longer worked...but my BB (blackberry did through the BB Server, so I know that the email servers were working properly through this whole adventure).
I went through tech support with GoDaddy (our email server host), Cablevision, AppleCare and no one could figure this out.
Ports were changed, tested etc. PUSH was OFF (POP servers do not like PUSH...so I have been told)
Finally, I noticed that the only difference was her Icloud. We turned it off.
Suddenly, like a light switch, all email issues went away.

Apple blamed GoDaddy, GoDaddy blamed Cablevision, Cablevision blamed Apple.
Everything was fine but suddenly the problem returned a week later.
I looked through her Ipad settings and there it was...she had all the iCloud setting OFF except for the Photo Stream, which she thought was OK to use.
Turned the PhotoStream OFF and all mail started running again.

At first glance, it would seem that the iCloud was, for lack of better words, capruting and holding the email hostage through the wifi. Internet was never interupted...only email. Throught the whole time, my PC and her MAC were both able to send & receive email.

You can choose not to belioeve this, but we now know for FACT that if we turn ANY icloud setting to ON our home wifi will become erratic and intermittant.
Forwarding our email through Icloud is NOT a valid business solution so that is not an option.

Ask me anything as I would like to know what the heck is going on here.

PS: We have spoken now to (3) other people we know who have experienced the same thing...on different netorks with different internet providers.
