Post iOS 8 installation, my iCloud capacity quicky filled up and I couldn't figure out why... I turned off photostream on my iPad, iPhone, and Mac via the settings apps, yet photos still consumed a massive amount of space.

Well today, I opened up iPhoto on my Mac, and saw that photostream was still enabled, despite having turned it off in the main settings menu. Anyway, I turned it off again in the iPhoto preferences. After syncing my phone with iTunes, I found photos went from 6gb in iCloud to 3gb...

Worth a try!

Side note, while it frees up iCloud space, the original files still seem to remain on the phone. They arent visible from photos app on the phone, but if plugged into a Mac, files that were "deleted" are still present.
