iCloud with Qi?

I've been using my 8+ with the Mophie charger and I recently noticed that iCloud hasn't been auto-backing up. Is this something we expect to change or that Apple has even considered changing yet? Not that big of a deal for me to back up manually every couple days but for anything other than convenience it's kind of a pain.

I charged mine using the Anker Powerport Qi 10W today and auto-backed up to iCloud.
