iCloud woes

Hello all
I have iCloud turned on my phone, iMac iPad, etc.
Is there a way to get the photos off my phone without deleting them from the cloud? I really don't need 17years of photos on my phone They're taking up 25 GB.
I love the convenience of the photos going right to the iMac where the full-res pic are stored. But can I start over with the photos on my phone?

Try moving them into a different folder on the iMac.
