Icon arrangement on external dos har drive

Whenever I plug my hard drive in my icons appear scattered down the window. I used to have a lot of icons before I re-arranged my drive, and now there are just 6, but they appear in the same location every time I plug my hard drive in, despite my re-arranging them every time.

Is there anyway to make it so I don't have to "Arrange - by name" each time I load my external HDD?
