Icon changes have no affect?

Well I changed the icons for Macintosh HD and my windows partition.

Yet when I boot and hold option, the icons displayed are not the ones I changed to.
 
That's because the drives are represented by a generic icon when you use the "Option" key startup method. They will never reflect your custom icons in that screen.
