I've searched every way I know how, but can't seem to find the answer. I downloaded (from Apple's website) an icon I can use to put on my dock for my external hard drive. It downloaded fine, but I can't figure out how to have show on my dock, instead of the this:

Any help, please? I'm not real computer smart, either, so if you could "dumb it up" a little, that would be great.

icon help for a newbie

it is fairly simple!
1: Right click/CTRL click on the icon you have downloaded to show the contextual menu.
2: Choose: Show info
3: click the icon on the top left of the info window and do a CMD+c (Keyboard shortcut for copy)
4: Choose the drive which icon you want to change
5: Right click/CTRL click on the drive and choose show info from the contextual menu.
6: click on the drive icon in the info window and do a CMD+v (keyboard shortcut for place)

Now your icon should be changed to the new one.

Otherwise Google is your friend.

Thanks. I will try this when I get home from work. I tried Google, but didn't really know what I was Googling for. I'm an idiot when it comes to computers. Thanks again.

It worked. Thanks again!
