How important is the look of the icon in your decision on whether or not you buy an app?

I only bought Super Monkey Ball because of its icon. Yes, the icon is 80% important to me.

It's a just a button...
Dosen't take long to make a half decent icon.

I only have problem with ugly icons... which we do happen to have an awful lot. If you can't do it right, get a friend to do it for you.

Keep it simple though :)

I dont know if anyone else has noticed this but the Super Monkey Ball icon is slightly smaller than any other app store icon, it kind of annoys me when ever im on the page that its on!

I've never noticed it until you pointed it out! It's true, it's a bit smaller.

Ugly icons tend to be a turn off for me. If it's a good app though, I don't mind.

I don't give the icon much thought. I am buying the functionality of the App and the icon doesn't have much impact on that.

A bad icon will not stop me from buying an app that has the functionality I need.

Yeah, once I bought it, after it I spent a good amount of time examining it only to figure out it was smaller.

I agree completely. For me, apps are all about doing something I need done. The icon is irrelevant.

If it's too ugly, I can't bring myself to purchase the app. If it's only somewhat unpleasing to me, it goes on the last page (9?).

A bit of a drag as there are a couple of apps I really like, but don't use as much as I could or should because they are not on the correct "category" page.
