I have a 2.66 mac pro w/6 gigs ram and 2t internal storage (4 x 500 gig seagates)
I bought this unit to use for a big final cut project. my last mac is a G4 dual 500 and it just wasn't fast enough anymore. For the record, I run both PC's and mac, although with the purchase of this Mac Pro unit I'm trying to go Mac only.
Question: why do my icons (hard drives mainly) keep re-rearranging themselves at every boot? I don't remember this from the G4......
Is there a simple fix?

Try right click on your desktop > show view options >
From here you can alter your settings / viewing arrangements.

nope, didn't work.
I tried snap to grid and diferent sorting options.
Nada
it's only the drive icons that forget where they belong everything else is OK.
