Whenever you touch an icon, it gets darkened by some shade. Can someone tell me what file/png this is called and where I might find it on my phone? Need to delete it and don't know which file I need to delete. Thanks.

I think it is IconDarkeningOverlay.png or IconDarkeningOverlay@2x (for iphone 4) in System/Library/Coreservices/Springboard.app

No prob - I had some strange issue when I was on 4.0.1 with 5 column springboard and the shadows not lining up with the icons and I think I just renamed that file and then the shadow did not appear.

I had the same issue as well when I was on 4.0.1. The shadows were like 5mm off center and looked nasty. Rather than do the smart thing and keep the files and rename them, I just deleted them :D They're non-important files anyways so no biggie as far as I was concerned.
