I'm struggling with my new MacBook and macOS Catalina (my old MacBook runs with Mojave). I actually think that Catalina sucks - I never, ever before encountered so many annoyances when upgrading to a new system version. Here comes the next thing:

I have "Show icon preview" active in the view options of Finder.

I have a number of links on my desktop. With macOS Mojave the icons had an "@" sign on them, now - with macOS Catalina - they are plain white. Other files, i. e. PDF files, look as they looked before. Is "plain white" now normal for link files? Can I change such a thing to my likings (not just for one specific file, but i. e. for all link files)?

Greetings - desertman
