Icon resizing slider

This seems to have dropped in Lion.

I know I can right-click in the folder and do Show View Options and do it that way, but that's very clunky. I used to use the slider a lot, to make photo thumbnails large enough to view easily when working with them, then restore down to a normal size afterwards.

Is there any way to switch the slider back on?

Go to View -> Show Status Bar or hit "Command"+"/"
