ICON_ files... what are they and how to get rid of them?

Hello,


I use dropbox between windows and mac computers. My main mac uses a symbolic link to the windows dropbox in order to avoid hd redundancy.

I find that in my folders i have a bunch of ICON_ files, i do not know how to get rid of them permanently.

What are they and how do i control them?
