In regards to icon organizing, 5x5 and moving/placing the icons where ever you desire, is it necessary to get a combination of any of these? all of them? or will 1 do the job. 3 out of the 4 are paid and I'd prefer not having to buy all three, but every time I research the difference, some say there isn't much other says there are (but never list the actual differences). So what's recommended for just icon organization, 5x5 and moving icons to certain spots that are not limited to the default grid?

I'm on an iPad mini and ultimately just want my icons to stay in place when changing orientation and have some in different places to make room for widgets.

Also I noticed a lot of themes essentially have this format already (at least from the screen shot) are these only doable if I already have one (or a combination) of the apps listed above? or when installing certain themes they come with the format right out of the box type deal?

You can use a combination of GridLock and Iconoclasm to get what you want or GridLock and Springtomize to get that as well. I use a combination of the latter to have a 3x3 layout on the bottom of my SB with an iWidget on top. (Plust springtomize has a lot more options other than changing the layout that make it worth the purchase).

My $0.02.

Just curious what can spingtomize 2 do that iconoclasm can't? and vice versa?

Also in regards to your springtomize 2 + Gridlock suggestion, can I just get springtomize 2 + iBlank and save myself a couple of bucks? I don't mind the extra work involved to replicate what Gridlock has (or any other of the apps), as long as they function the same

It's my understanding that Springtomize 2 can do everything that Gridlock can do. The nice thing about Springtomize 2 is that it is like the Swiss Army Knife of tweaks. It can do so many things. If you haven't tried it I would recommend trying it out. it's well worth the purchase price considering all it can do.

Springtomize 2 can do a lot but it cannot do what Gridlock does.

Your right. I had Gridlock confused with something else. My mistake.

I thought that might be the case. I just didn't want anyone to get confused. You are right about Springtomize 2 being well worth the purchase price.

Wait so what can Gridlock do that Springtomize 2, iconoclasm or iBlank can't?

dont' have iconoclasm or iBlank... but Springtomize on it's own does not let you have completely custom layouts. You can add (or subtract) lines and rows, change icon sizes and stuff like that, but the apps are still always organized top left to bottom right.

Gridlock just lets you place an icon in any slot, regardless of whether there is an app "before it" in the order. As far as I understand iBlank, it accomplishes a similar thing by having you insert blank icons into spaces to make it appear like apps are further down the line.

As a note, Springtomize has tons of features past just icons and, as others have said, is definitely worth the money.

I have not used iBlanks either, but that is what it does. From my understanding because the blank icons are not empty space you can click on them and some people find that annoying. With gridlock the spaces are actually empty space so you don't have this issue.

Really?! Wonder what it goes to...

EDIT: nevermind just installed it, for anyone curious, when you click the invisible icon it just does a fade/shadow animation but nothing opens or anything, isn't as annoying personally saves the extra couple of bucks if anything

So I just bit the bullet and purchased Springtomize 2. Just to let everyone know sprintomize 2 by itself does not make 5x5 grid fluently when changed from portrait to landscape the bottom row disappears =/
