Specifically on .srt (subtitle files). Prevously, Clicking on a .srt file would show a preview in the Finder in Column view. Very useful for checking if different language subtitles had the same time offset. Now, after a Time Machine restore (the SSD portion of my Fusion Drive died) they appear as 'exec' files (Unix executables) or sometimes as plain white icons, although they are listed as TextEdit applications and they do open in TextEdit. Neither type will open in QuickLook, instead posting the generic icon when the spacebar is hit.

I've done a boot into safe mode and restarted, but no joy. Anyone got any ideas? This happened both under Sierra and under High Sierra.

TIA,

Tim
