Hey all, stupid question...

I remember seeing similar icons on way-old macs, but I've never seen them on osx. Are they an option on all new macs? What are those icons?!!?

To my knowledge, there are a custom implementation by Apple for their in-store Macs to allow easy access to the Concierge system. I haven't seen it in the wild, but that doesn't mean it isn't out there somewhere.

I have it somewhere. I'll try and dig it up.

PM me if you want to host it.

EDIT: Docktop is even better. Also I found the original just PM me if you want it.

wonder.

You can hit Cmd-Tab and a little window will pop showing all your open apps, then still holding Command down and hitting Tab will cycle through them. Very useful when you have a lot of apps open. Is this what you're talking about?

No, he's talking about the utility bar that's in the center of the desktop on all Macs in the Apple Stores. Look at the picture posted by the OP.

Will someone stop teasing him? it is called command tabbing. you hold command(cloverleaf, apple) and tab down and it shows you your open applications. you keep hitting tab until you are the on the one you want. then you release and the windows comes up. almost like expose.

They're not teasing.

Have you gone into an Apple store and looked at the desktop of their demo machines?! Those icons are there all the time. One links you to sign up for the Genius Bar queue and I forget what the other icons do.

Either its a no, which would be sad, or he/she made a really bad joke.

I would imagine it's a no. imacintel lives a long way from any Apple stores.
