Icons not displaying in Stacks/Dock but are displaying in Finder?

Reset the p-ram!

That's not really needed, its just needs some time to re-cache everything. It took about an hour on my machine, and then everything became basically instant.

Try rebooting the computer, it's much better after that...

I had an identical problem on this same machine when I got it two weeks ago. Icons for fresh installations were disappearing or not showing up. It's annoying, but I guess it doesn't harm actual use. I'll try rebooting and see what happens.
