I want to put some folders on my desktop and identify them with individual icons. When I Google for icons, then use Preview to place them on the folder, I get either a white or black square "frame" behind the actual icon.

How can I find icons w/o this frame; or, how do I remove the "frame" from the actual icon?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and suggestions!

What format are these icons?

It sounds like its a jpg or something with a background. In theory a png file with transparent BG should work.

Thanks, I'll look for .png and check that out.

That solved the problem. Thanks again!!
