Apologies everybody & to moderators, for this cross post, I just realized this might be a better section to ask this in, but before I could change my mind my post had already gone through. feel free to delete my other post in peripherals.

I am looking for a good hard drive dock to backup & swap out hard drives, I have seen various brands such as newertech, & vantec where the drives are inserted up right.

I have also seen the icy dock ones where the drives slide in & out of an enclosure or are hot swappable.

which is best? just looking for ideas before I consider buying one or the other, I would like something that is durable & not of cheap plastic. I like the look of the icy docks because they enclose the drives & look more compact, I am in tight spaces, & they look a little more portable, & cover the drives, even though I do some cleaning of my work space, I am in a somewhat dusty environment & dont want my bare hard drives exposed to this.

However, the firewire 800 icy docks are a bit expensive, would firewire 400 & USB 2.0 make good transfers & backups?

what models of icy dock & the other docks can anybody suggest?
